Game 1: Australia vs. Netherlands

The Australian Born ’93 junior women’s team has recorded an impressive draw in their opening game of their European tour.

The junior Aussies recovered from a slow start to outscore the Netherlands 5-3 in the second half to secure a 9-9 draw.

Morgan Baxter was the star in attack with three goals while Bronte Colenso netted two.

Head coach Ryan Moar was pleased with the result and praised the girls for their strong effort considering their long flight and lack of training together.

“This was our first official game as a team and the girls were dealing with the after effects of the long haul to Europe so I was extremely happy with their performance,” Moar said.

“The girls showed great determination to be able to claw back from 4-7 down to be in a position to win the game at 8-8 in the final stages.

“A nine all draw was a fair result in the end as the Dutch team are strong and they are in their final stages of preparation for the European Championships in two weeks’ time.”
