Hobart (October 3).— Melville Sharks' boys and Drummoyne Red girls claimed the gold medals in the 16 and Under Water Polo National Championships in Hobart today.
Western Australian side Melville beat Brisbane Barracudas 8-4 in the boys' game to claim its second straight title, while Drummoyne defeated Sydney Northern Beaches Blue 10-8 to clinch the girls' championship.

Hobart (October 3). - Melville Sharks' boys and Drummoyne Red's girls claimed the gold medals in the 16 and Under Water Polo National Championships in Hobart.
Western Australian side Melville beat Brisbane Barracudas 8-4 in the boys' game to claim its second straight title, while Drummoyne defeated Sydney Northern Beaches Blue 10-8 to clinch the girls' championship.
The Sharks held a narrow two-goal lead in the third quarter but controlled the fourth quarter to ensure victory, led by Jordan Kremmers-Taylor, who scored three goals, while Will Mckay and Luke Pavillard added two each.
Shannan Martin was the star for Drummoyne in its victory with three goals, while Erin Moodie and Fiona Walsh added two each. Georgia Farrell and Lenke Dauda Board scored three each for Northern Beaches.
Martin was rewarded for a dominant tournament with the girls' Player of the Series award. Fellow Drummoyne player Stephanie Calaizis was Goalkeeper of the Series and Cronulla Blue's Maddie Schmid scored 27 goals to lead the competition.
Melbourne Collegians star Josh Barrington secured the boys' Player of the Series award, while Sydney University's Anthony Hrysanthos was the Goalkeeper of the Series and Adelaide Vikings player William Dayman was the highest goalscorer with 28.
Barrington led the Victorian side to a 9-4 victory over UNSW Wests Black to take the boys' bronze medal. Hunter Hurricanes claimed third-place in the girls' competition with a thrilling 3-2 win over Sunshine Coast.
Tasmania's boys finished 18th out of 20 while the host state's girls finished 20th out of 24.

Hobart (October 2). - Brisbane Barracudas boys will meet Melville Sharks in Sunday's Gold Medal Game at the 16 and Under Water Polo National Championships in Hobart.
Brisbane advanced to the title decider with an 11-9 victory over Melbourne Collegians, while WA team Melville beat UNSW Wests Black 14-7.
Drummoyne Red beat Sunshine Coast 9-6 to reach the girls' Gold Medal Game, where it will meet Sydney Northern Beaches Blue, which beat Hunter Hurricanes in a 9-8 thriller.
The losers of the semi-finals will battle in the Bronze Medal Games on Sunday morning.

Hobart (October 1). - Brisbane Girls Grammar were the big winners on day four of the 16 and Under Water Polo Championships in Hobart, advancing to the quarter-finals with a 19-1 thrashing of Melville Saints.
It will battle Queensland rivals Sunshine Coast in the quarter-finals Saturday morning for a spot in the semis, with undefeated side Drummoyne Red facing reigning winners Cronulla Blue in another exciting match-up.
Cronulla Blue's boys thrashed Cronulla Black 19-2 to advance to the final eight, while defending champions Melville Sharks beat fellow WA side Dolphins 9-0.
The four boys' quarter-finals are on Friday night, with the boys' and girls' semi-finals all on Saturday afternoon.

Hobart (September 30). - Melville Sharks' boys' side continued its dominant start to the competition on day three of the 16 and Under Water Polo National Championships in Hobart.
The Western Australian team is one of four sides unbeaten on the boys' side and boasts the best goal difference at +58 from its three games. Four girls' squads are also undefeated.
The top four teams from each group advance to the next stage with a chance to make Sunday's Gold Medal Game, while the rest battle in the playoffs for the lower positions.
Tasmania's boys were the first local side to avoid defeat with a 7-7 draw to WA team Dolphins, but both the boys' and girls' outfits finished bottom of their group.

Hobart (September 29). - Brisbane Girls Grammar caused a big upset with an 11-10 victory over defending champions Cronulla Blue as the 16 and Under Water Polo National Championships in Hobart entered the second day of action.
Brisbane got the important win late on day one before beating Drummoyne Black today to ensure it remains one of nine undefeated teams in the girls' competiton.
Six teams remain unbeaten on the boys' side, led by Hunter Hurricanes, which has won its two games by a combined 27 goals.
The Tasmanian sides are still searching for their first victories, with the girls having gone closest with a 7-6 loss to Essendon.

Hobart (September 28). - Defending girls' champions Cronulla Blue posted a big win on the opening day of the 16 and Under National Club Water Polo Championships in Hobart.
Cronulla showed it is once again among the title favourites with a 50-3 thrashing of NYP Dragons, while reigning boys' winners, Western Australia's Melivlle Sharks thrashed Richmond 32-0 to highlight its championship credentials.
Tasmania suffered tough opening day defeats, with the boys losing 10-3 to Sydney University and the girls falling 10-5 to Cronulla Black.
In the largest competition in the event's history, 20 boys teams and 24 girls teams are fighting for the title, which will be decided in Sunday's Gold Medal Games.

Entries are now open and will close with AWPI on or before Tuesday 20 July 2010.
Your entry must be accompanied by entry fee and is to be submitted on the competition entry form/tax invoice. Payment should be made to AWPI.
The Entry Fee is $275.00 per team (includes GST) payable to AWPI to accompany team entry. A pool entry fee of $20 per player will apply to all team players, which will be payable to the host Association (TWPI) at the Managers’ pre tournament meeting.
Entry fee for teams entering after the closing date of 20 July 2010 is $550.

PROGRAM
Games will commence at 8.00 am on the morning of Tuesday 28 September 2010.
The program and format of the championship will depend upon the number of teams entering.
Every endeavour will be made to maximise the number of games each team will play.

PRE-EVENT MEETINGS
Meetings for the Coaches and Managers at 7.00pm followed by Referees will be held prior to the start of the event on Monday 27 September 2010 at The Hobart Aquatic Centre.

TEAM TRAVEL
Teams may make their own travel arrangements.

Note that the program will be designed to allow teams to catch evening flights back to their home town on Sunday 3 October 2010. As a guide, teams should arrive on Monday 27 September in time to have a representative at the 7.00 pm Coaches/Managers Meeting (games start 8.00 am on 28 September) and plan to depart around 6.00 pm on the 3 October 2010.
PRESENTATIONS
Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be conducted during the Championships and all teams are asked to attend in full uniform.
COMPETITION RULES
Rules under which the Championships are to be conducted will be advised following the close of entries, as the Rules will be dependent upon the number of teams entering and the event format.
CODE OF CONDUCT
The Championships will be conducted under the Constitution and By-Laws of Australian Water Polo Inc.
Your attention is drawn to the Codes of Conduct contained in Section 7 of the By-Laws for Players, Referees, Officials, Spectators and others.
CHILD PROTECTION LEGISLATION
In accordance with the Australian Water Polo Inc Member Protection Policy which is binding on ALL members of AWPI, the following commitments must be met by Managers, Coaches and Referees who have contact with children under the age of eighteen years.
Managers, Coaches and Referees visiting Tasmania must comply with State Legislative requirements.

Australian Water Polo Incorporated supports the Australian Government, the Australian Sports Commission, the Australian Olympic Committee, and the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority in their efforts to eradicate the use of drugs in sport. AWPI has published an anti-doping policy, which will be adhered to for this event.
MEDIA STATEMENTS
States, Clubs and teams shall be permitted to promote the event and or their team within their own state (subject to AWPI approval). However, no competitor, team manager, official or spokesperson for a state or team shall make media statements that could bring the 2010 National Club Championships Boys and Girls 16 Years and Under, its sponsor, or officials into controversy. Such statements shall be deemed to be a breach of AWPI discipline and may be dealt with accordingly.
THEFT
Any person/s found stealing signage or any equipment owned by Australian Water Polo Inc or Tasmanian Water Polo Inc or the Hobart Aquatic Centre or other venues may be immediately reported to police and that person/s will be brought before the AWPI Judiciary. Please note that automatic disqualification of the team from the championship will occur if any member is found guilty of theft.
SPONSORSHIP
Teams may pursue their own sponsorship for the Championships, however, in the event of teams having conflict with event sponsors or AWPI sponsors, the latter will have precedence.
INJURY STATISTICS
Australian Water Polo Inc is vitally interested in collecting injury statistics and, hence, forms will be provided at the briefing meeting to allow feedback of this information to AWPI.
