Aussie Shark Maitland previously represented Australia at the Beijing Olympic Games and the 2003 (winning bronze) and 2005 Universiade Games. He will carry the Australian flag into the Belgrade Arena where a large number of spectators will be cheering on from the stands.

Men’s team manager Jon Sieben said: “He has also been chosen as one of the four co-captains. All the boys are excited for Rob and will be keen to support him in the Opening Ceremony. This a great honour for Rob and Australian Water Polo.”
