Sydney (June 16):- With the number of cases of Swine Flu increasing across the country Australian Water Polo Inc wishes to provide some guidance to its members.

1) In the event of presenting flu like symptoms immediately seek medical advice or your team doctor.

2) If you or any of your team has been in contact with anybody who has Swine Flu, please make sure that you/they have isolated yourself/themselves for a full 7 days prior to any involvement in the sport.

4) Can you please make sure that all members of your teams follow the listed precautions and if anyone presents with Flu-like symptoms please have them checked out by a doctor so they can be cleared before participating in any competitions.

5) If you and your teams can follow the above guidelines before coming to training or competition that will greatly reduce the likely chance of spreading the disease and help us combat it spreading through or touring teams.

What are the symptoms of H1N1 Influenza 09?

The symptoms of H1N1 Influenza 09 are similar to seasonal influenza (flu): fever, cough, tiredness, muscle aches, sore throat, chills, shortness of breath, runny nose and headache. Some people with H1N1 Influenza 09 have also had vomiting and diarrhoea. In some cases, H1N1 Influenza 09 can lead to severe pneumonia (serious lung infection). Symptoms of H1N1 Influenza 09 usually start between two to four days after coming into contact with the virus.
