The Hungarians beat national league outfit UWA Comets 6-4 in the final with NWPL champions Fremantle Marlins having to settle for bronze after downing the WA State 18s team 19-1.

In the final, UWA led 3-1 for much of the second quarter with Eger levelling early in the third period before closing at 4-4.

Eger, with two national team players fresh from the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, struck twice in just over a minute early in the fourth to seal the game.

The Comets did well to get to the final, twice beating the four-time champion Marlins on the eve of the league’s start.

Included in the Comets’ line-up for the first time was former junior world champion Gaby Domanic form the United States.
