Beijing, China (August 7).— The Australian water polo teams trained in Beijing today ahead of the opening matches of the Olympic Games tournament on Sunday (men)  and Monday (women).

The women trained at the 6000-seat Yingdong Natatorium while the men trained at another venue in the north-eastern quadrant of the city where up to 13 universities are situated.

Head coach Greg McFadden said he was pleased finally to be in Beijing and the team looked sharp during a one-hour training session.

The women were not available for comment as the team had to shift to the Olympic Village for the traditional Flag Raising Ceremony for the Australian team.

The men will train in the Yingdong competition pool on Saturday prior to their first game against Greece on Sunday.
Yingdong will be shut down tomorrow in a huge security clamp in preparation for the Opening Ceremony tomorrow night.
