Aussie Sharks pay international tribute to Brian Berry Print E-mail
berryarmband.jpgBarcelona, Spain (June 29).— The Australian men's water polo team paid tribute to the recently deceased Brian Berry, a stalwart of New South Wales Country water polo. The team wore armbands before the clash with Spain, lost 12-8, and after the swim-off a minute's silence was staged in Brian's memory — a huge international gesture for a tireless worker for our sport.

The funeral service for Brian Berry will be held on Monday  30 June at 4.00pm at the Lake Macquarie Crematorium, Ryhope. Our thoughts are with Adele, Alyssa, Scotty and Lara.

"It is with great sadness that I advise you of the sudden and unexpected death of Brian Berry, Chairman, of the Hunter Hurricanes. Brian had a vision for the club and was instrumental in ensuring that Newcastle joined the National Water Polo League competition.

"Brian was a very passionate, hardworking and strong leader of the Hurricanes, and his passing has left a huge void within the club.

"The Hurricanes Board would like to extend their condolences to Adele, Alyssa, Scott and Lara."
