Canberra (November 26).— New South Wales Institute of Sport had to work fearlessly to repulse the Queensland Academy of Sport in the water polo Institute Challenge grand final here yesterday.
NSWIS defeated QAS by a narrow 10-9 while Western Australian Institute of Sport beat Composite 12-8 for the bronze medal.
The women’s team will be named later this week to contest the
prestigious six-nation Holiday Cup in California on December 5-10
before contesting its Olympic qualification series with New Zealand in
Brisbane on December 17-19.

Big two face off for Institute Challenge gold
Canberra (November 24).—
As predicted, NSWIS and Queensland Academy of
Sport will clash in the gold-medal final of the annual Institute
Challenge water polo for women here tomorrow.In today’s semifinals, the NSWIS came through 14-7 over the Western
Australian Institute of Sport while QAS blasted the Composite team 11-5.
Players are asserting themselves ahead of the naming of the national
team to play the Olympic Games Oceania qualification series in Brisbane
against New Zealand next month.

Composite forces top two into penalty shootouts
Canberra (November 23).—
The Composite team forced two teams to penalty
shootouts on day three of the in the annual Institute Challenge water
polo for women here today.
In round five, the Composite team, made up of players outside the big
three States, forced the Queensland Academy of Sport to a 16-15 victory
and in the evening went down to NSW Institute of Sport 13-8 after the
shootout with little success from the five-metre line.
Queensland finished top of the ladder and will face Composite in one
semifinal while NSWIS will clash with WAIS.

NSWIS gains revenge over QAS
Canberra (November 22).—
New South Wales Institute of Sport gave the Queensland Academy of Sport
its first loss in the annual Institute Challenge for women here today.
NSWIS needed a penalty shootout to get the better of the strong QAS combination who beat the NSW team 14-11 on day one.
NSWIS downed WA Institute of Sport 10-4 with Nikita Cuffe firing on all
cylinders again for an impressive total of goals, which exploded with
another five against QAS.

QAS unbeaten after first day of Institute Challenge
Canberra (November 21).— The Institute Challenge for women has kicked
off in Canberra with the powerful NSW Institute of Sport having a mixed
day.NSWIS beat the Composite side 17-5 and later lost to Queensland Academy of Sport 14-11.
QAS warmed up for the NSW clash with a 14-4 margin over the WA Institute of Sport, who later beat the Composite team 8-6.
