The Drummoyne Devils will join 11 other clubs playing in Australia’s premier water polo competition.

“This is an exciting time for the Drummoyne club and provides our players the opportunity to remain with Drummoyne while fulfilling their goals to play against the best Australian players,” according to Drummoyne President Michael Hahn.

"While one of the oldest water polo clubs in Australia, Drummoyne only started playing First Grade in the NSW competition two years ago after being out of the top division for nearly 40 years.

Drummoyne has one of the most successful junior development programs and has developed some very talented players providing Drummoyne with a core group of players to take the club to the next level.

Six Drummoyne players represented Australia at various levels in 2007 led by national team player Grant Richardson who played in the Senior National Men's team who finished third in the World League Super Finals played in Berlin.

John Hahn returned this week from the 2007 World Junior Championships where Australia finished fifth after losing the quarter final in a penalty shootout to eventual winner Hungary and four Drummoyne juniors were selected in the Australian Youth teams that toured Europe and New Zealand.

“Drummoyne presented a very professional bid and have a robust model that will be good for the National League and Australian Water Polo,” according to Russell Small, Chairman of the Australian National Water Polo League. 

“The Drummoyne Devils are looking forward to playing their initial National League season and would like to thank everyone for supporting our bid,” said Michael Hahn. “We were very encouraged by the support received from the other National League clubs and are looking forward to our initial season. Our summer training program starts this week at Drummoyne Pool with Mens' Coaching Director Dalibor Maslan preparing the Drummoyne teams for the NSW Summer competition.

"Dalibor has had a huge impact on the club since joining Drummoyne from Nis Classic club in Serbia where he has played and trained with some of greats of water polo including the Serbian coaching director Nenad Manojlovic”, said Michael Hahn.
