Shanghai, China (July 7).— The Aussie Sharks wrapped up their FINA World League Asia-Oceania series with a clean sweep of victories here tonight. A 15-3 win over Japan gave the Sharks six straight with four of the
matches counting while two clashes with China B were exhibition affairs.
The Sharks rattled through the quarters 4-1, 4-0, 5-1 and 2-1, converting just one from four while defending six from eight.
Australia and China, who beat Japan twice, now travel to Berlin,
Germany next month to contest the Super Finals against the four best
teams in Europe.
Australia will carry through to the Super Finals its success against China.

Aussie Sharks qualify for World League Super Finals
Shanghai, China (July 6).—
The Aussie Sharks continued their
unbeaten run in the FINA World League with an 11-8 victory over China
in the Asia-Oceania qualifying series.
The win puts the Sharks into the Super Finals in Berlin, Germany next month with one game against Japan remaining.
The win was built on a 5-2 halftime scoreline while the third period was drawn 4-all and the last 2-all.
The Aussie Sharks scored five from eight on extra while defending four from seven.
Goalkeeper Luke Quinlivan made 10 saves, including one on penalty.
Meanwhile, in Itea, Greece, the national junior women’s team began
their World Championship campaign with an 11-7 victory over Spain in
the Pythia Cup.
The Aussies led 7-2 at halftime but failed to score in the third before firing in four goals in the last quarter.

Aussie Sharks beat Japan in World League

The Aussie Sharks men’s water polo
team beat Japan 12-8 in their preliminary round clash of the men’s
World League hre tonight.Sam McGregor top-scored with three goals as the Sharks won the first
two periods4-2 and 4-1 before drawing the third 3-all and losing the
last 2-1.The Sharks converted five from 12 and goalkeeper Luke
Quinlivan made eight saves.

Aussie Sharks sweep aside Chinese teams in World League
Shanghai, China (July 4).—
Australia
began its men’s FINA World Water Polo League campaign in earnest with a
handsome 17-5 victory over China A here tonight.The win follows a 17-6 success against China B on the opening night on
Tuesday, a team which is competing by invitation only in the four-team
Asia-Oceania preliminary round.
The group is completed by Japan, who lost to China 10-8 on Tuesday.
Against China A, the Aussie Sharks, playing under new coach John Fox,
had the game won by halftime with a comfortable 10-3 lead after 4-2 and
6-1 quarters. The third was won 3-1 and the fourth 4-1.
Counter-attack and press defence were the telling differences between
the two sides as Australia converted three from seven on extra and two
penalty goals while defending seven from nine.
Goalkeeper James Stanton, who dragged down 12 saves, also made the scoresheet with a long shot form his two-metre line.
Dual Olympian Gavin Woods drew four exclusions, two penalties and scored three goals for player-of-the-match status.
In the earlier match against China B, the Sharks converted six from
nine and defended four from seven with Stanton making six saves and
Luke Quinlivan five as they shared the cage.
The Sharks will play Japan in the third match of the double-round-robin
event with the winning team gaining a berth at next month’s Super
Finals in Berlin, Germany.
