Women's NWPL semifinals both go to third game Print E-mail
Sydney (May 24).— Tables were turned in return matches in the women’s National Water Polo League semifinal series at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre here this afternoon.
Both series go to a third and deciding game this evening after Sydney University Lions beat Brisbane Barracudas 10-9 and KFC Queensland Breakers needed extra time to down minor premiers Fremantle Mariners 13-12.
The game was locked at 12-12 at full time and there was no goal in the first period of extra time.
Midway through the second period, Jane Moran scored the winner on extra in a game where Fremantle lynchpin Gemma Beadsworth was fouled out in the third period.

Semifinal A2: Sydney University Lions 10 (M Hammond 3, N Cuffe, K Gofers 2, A Russell, L Robertson, J Whitehorn) Brisbane Barracudas 9 (K Gynther 4, S Smith, C Grayson 2, K Bryce). Series tied 1-1.
Semifinal B2: KFC Queensland Breakers 13 (A Hetzel 5, S Fraser 3, S Mills 2, N McCarthy, B Knox, K Miller) Fremantle Marlins 12 (K Finucane 3, G Beadsworth, S Wheelock, G Ralph 2, L Chaves, B Brooks, Z Arancini). Series tied 1-1.
