The successful incumbent will play an integral part in further developing the review and in implementing and managing the high performance program.
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall development and co-ordination of elite athletes and coaches within the National Men’s Water Polo Program throughout Australia and will provide vision and leadership to ensure that Australian Water Polo achieves Olympic success in Beijing 2008.
The incumbent may also be responsible for management of the Australian Institute of Sport’s Men’s Program should a program exist.

Key Selection Criteria for the position include:
• demonstrated ability and experience coaching elite players from varying backgrounds and at different levels of potential;
• sound knowledge of international water polo, trends emerging, and team and tactical skills required to succeed at international level;
• high level organisational capacity including established and achieving priority outcomes and developing strategic, outcome based planning;
• demonstrated management experience particularly in the area of managing, working with and assisting other coaching staff and specialists sports science staff;
• demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and to incorporate advice from other professionals working in the program and for AWPI;
• well developed communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated in group and one on one counselling situations;
• demonstrated ability to develop a cohesive team, motivate players to achieve within a framework that allows for innovation;
• demonstrated ability to analyse player strengths and weaknesses and to develop and implement individual plans with players.
