Coaches unfazed by Junior World Championship draws Print E-mail
Both Australian Junior coaches are happy with their draws for this year's FINA Junior World Water Polo Championships despite facing some top opposition early. The draws were made in Melbourne on the opening day of the 12th FINA World Championships. headerimage16

The world No 3 women, who will play in Porto, Portugal on July 23-29, have drawn the Netherlands, Puerto Rico and the Asia 2 qualifier in their group of the 16-nation tournament.
However, in the same half of the draw it will possibly play reigning champion United States of America in the semifinals, in a rematch of the 2005 titles in Perth where the USA won by a goal.
Head coach Bruce Falson said: "On form, the USA, Australia and Russia will be the teams to beat and when we play the United States we will need to win by a couple of goals."
Russia will have to emerge from the tight Group D against Greece, Spain and Asia 1.

The world No 7 Australian junior men, who play in Long Beach, USA on August 18-26, have drawn the winners of the previous three titles - Serbia and Greece.
Asia 1, New Zealand and Asia 4 make up the six-team group in the 24-team competition.
Serbia won the past two titles in Argentina and Italy while Greece won in Turkey in 2001.
The men will then either face Hungary, Germany or Italy in the second round should they not win their group and advance to the quarterfinals.
Head coach John Fox was non-plussed about the tough half of the draw: "The Serbs will obviously be a challenge but I'm confident of taking it up to them and Greece.
"If we don't beat Serbia we will have to play Italy or Germany (assuming Hungary finishes top) and we have beaten them both comfortably recently."
