Comments from the coach: After a very tough 3 weeks we came to our final game against Greece.
Who would have thought after starting the tour with 16 players that we finished with 12 players.
Three returned to Australia due to injuries and another was declared unfit for the final 2 games.
On top of that if we had our full complement a few would have been rested as they had small niggling injuries.
After a slow start we finished the first quarter strongly to be 4-1.
Then lack of concentration and commitment in defence allowed the Greeks back into the game at 4-4 before another late burst saw us take a half time lead of 8-5.
Another 2 quick goals to the Greeks after the break before we asserted ourselves yet again to get to 11-7 and then we finished 12-9.
Then players not fulfilling their individual goals in defence allowed the game to be tied 13-13 with 2minutes to go until Fraser, player of the tour, clinched victory with a goal in extra man.
Presently, the team is only performing at three quarters of their ability and this shows in our defence where players are not doing their fully.
Until we get full commitment by everyone in defence we will still have these lapses that allow our opponents to get back into games that we should have full control of.
The work load on this tour has been extremely high and to the girls credit we only lost 2 games on tour.
The girls are looking forward to a well deserved 2 day break before we gather in Sydney for the Sydney International Tournament.

AUS v HUN

Having left Australia with 16 players, Jenna Santoromito and Alicia McCormack flew home to Australia at the end of the Greece leg so that they could receive treatment for injuries.
Yesterday, Rebecca Rippon also returned home to attend to an injury.
Although, the numbers have decreased from 16 to 13 players the spirit of the group is still excellent!

Comments From The Coach:
We started like the best team in the world and finished like the tenth team.
After a 4 to 0 start to the game we finished the first quarter 4 to 2.
In the second quarter we missed extra man opportunities, scoring 0 / 4, allowing Hungary to win the quarter 2 goals to 1.
After allowing Hungary back into the game we scooted away to another 2 goal lead at the end of the third quarter.
However, poor discipline and stupid play cost us unnecessary exclusions which left the team short of players.
In the fourth quarter we surrendered without a fight.
Our players lack of ability to play to our tactics allowed the Hungarians to score 4 / 4 extra mans and a penalty shot where we could only convert 1 / 3 in the last quarter.
We were probably the best team in the World for two quarters but unfortunately there were another 2 quarters to play.
Best Players: Fraser, M.Rippon, Beadsworth, E. Knox

Other Result: ESP 12 def GCE 11
