Gold was won by four different Clubs in the age groups at the Australian Masters Championships which concluded at the Gold Coast yesterday, 6 November 2006.
DAY 4 Gold was spread over four Clubs when the finals had concluded today. In the 40+ age group, Gold Coast Chargers ran to an 8-1 lead by half time and convincingly beat Guam 15-8. The main goalscorers for Gold Coast Chargers were Peter Bagster with 4, with 3 each to Clive Robinson, Bob Beveridge and Marcel Vaars, while Guam goalscorers were evenly spread. Lance Johnson continued his fine goalscoring in the gold medal gaem with 6 goals which significantly contributed to Barracudas defeating Manly 14-5, after a 6-0 break at half time. Neil Gynther scored four times for Barracudas, while Scott Schweickle finished with 2 goals for Manly. Gold went to Guam in the 50+ age group beating Gold Coast 13-9. After scores being tied at half time 6-6, Guam opened a three goal break at three quarter time 11-8 before completing the task. Garry Mansell scored 5 and Peter Holmes 3 for Guam, and Mark Edwards tried valiantly with 4 goals. WATER POLO RESULTS 6 NOV 06 - DAY 4

45+ Age Group Gold Medal Game
50+ Age Group Gold Medal Game In the 50+ age group Gold Coast snatched victory from Parramatta Eels with 1 second left on the game clock to qualify to play the undefeated Guam Masters with a score of 9 - 8. Gold Coast shut down the Eels free flowing game to grab a chance for gold having finished third after the preliminary rounds. In the other age groups, Rivercity won gold in the 35+ group, the 40+ final looks a cliff hanger between Guam and Gold Coast Chargers after a one goal win (13-12) by Guam in the preliminary rounds, the Barracudas look too strong for Manly in the 45+ section. Game 4 - 1:15 pm DAY 1 Some of the best water polo seen at a National Championship in recent times was on display at the opening day of the National Masters Championship. In the first game of the day, Brisbane Barracudas went goal for goal with the Gold Coast Chargers in Group 1 (35-45+) to outlast their opposition and post a victory 13-10 with Lance Johnson scoring 8 goals. Guam showed their superiority in the second game in this group to beat Manly 11-6 with an even contribution from all players. In Game 1 of Group 2 (50+) Guam masters opened their account with a convincing win over Gold Coast 11-5. The last game of the day saw Parramatta Eels easily deal with Gooleys (pronounced Gooolays) 11 goals to 3 with Russell Goff and Terry Dorahy starring for the Eels with 4 goals each
