Athletes Commission

The Australian Water Polo Athlete’s Commission (“The Commission”) was created in 2005 following recommendations by the Australian Olympic Committee and Australian Water Polo Inc.’s (“AWPI”) desire to have greater athlete involvement in the operation of the sport.

The purpose of The Commission is to represent the views of Australian Water Polo athletes to AWPI.

The Athletes' Commission Charter sets out the criteria upon which the commission is elected and its roles and objectives.

The Athlete’s Commission has full representation on the Board of AWPI, whereby the commission Chairman has all the rights and responsibilities of an AWPI Board member as defined in sections 15.1 and 25.7.5 of the AWPI Constitution.

Toby Jenkins, retired player, Olympic Games 2004

Bronwen Knox, current AUS Open player, Bronze medallist Olympic Games Beijing 2008,

Thomas Whalan, current AUS Open player, Olympic Games Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and  Beijing 2008,

The Athletes Commission has been involved with and continues to involve itself in projects related to the welfare of Australian water polo athletes.

The Athletes Commission has been developed for the welfare of Australian Water Polo players.
